AfD deputy Kotre: The sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines benefited third countries
German politician Steffen Kotre, a member of the Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and an expert on energy policy, commented on new media reports about the investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. In an interview with TASS, he stated that the sabotage on the pipelines served the interests of external forces interested in the final break in energy ties between Germany and Russia.
Kotre called the abandonment of Russian gas supplies and the switch to more expensive American shale gas a "historic mistake" that damages the German economy and the well-being of its citizens. In his opinion, Berlin should reconsider its current course and return to a pragmatic model focused on its own national interests.
This implies not only a revision of foreign policy priorities but also a full restoration of strategic energy partnership with Moscow.
"Germany must return to a pragmatic energy policy focused exclusively on its own national interests. And that means a complete normalization and revival of the strategic energy partnership with Russia," the deputy concluded.
Earlier, it was reported that the AfD is insisting on a complete cessation of military and financial support for Kyiv.
