Privacy Policy

What PAN — the Parallax Artificial Network — collects when you read it, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and the controls you hold over it.

In effect from May 1, 2026 · Version 1.0 · Reviewed quarterly

1. Who we are

PAN (the “Service”) is operated by Parallax AI LLC (“we”, “us”), the data controller for the purposes of this policy. This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. It applies to the PAN website and to the PAN mobile application. For matters of permitted use rather than data, see our Terms of Use; for a per-cookie breakdown, see our Cookies page.

PAN does not require an account to read. We do not sell personal data, we do not run third-party advertising trackers, and we do not build advertising profiles. The analytics we do run are off by default and load only after you opt in.

2. What we collect

We deliberately collect as little as the Service allows. The categories are:

We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other identifying detail in order to read PAN. If you choose to contact us (see Section 9), we process the contents of your message only to answer it.

2a. Data collected, and data we never collect

To be precise, and consistent with our App Store privacy declaration, the only categories of data associated with you that we collect — solely when analytics is enabled — are:

We do not collect, track, request, or require any of the following, and the PAN app asks for no corresponding device permission:

3. Legal bases and purposes

Where the GDPR or comparable law applies, our legal bases are: consent for analytics; legitimate interests for serving and securing the Service and for storing your preferences on your device; and legal obligation where we must retain or disclose data to comply with the law. You may withdraw analytics consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

4. Analytics and Google Analytics

PAN uses Google Analytics 4 (operated by Google LLC) to understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used. This script is not loaded until you actively grant analytics consent in the cookie panel. Until then, no Google Analytics request is made and no Google cookie is set.

When enabled, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies (for example _ga and _ga_<id>) and process your IP address, device and browser characteristics, and the pages you view, in order to produce aggregated statistics. Google acts as our processor for this purpose. Data may be transferred to and processed in the United States under the relevant standard contractual clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We do not use this data to identify individual readers, and we do not link it to any other dataset.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (Sec-GPC: 1) or Do Not Track (DNT: 1) signal, we treat that as a refusal of analytics and do not load Google Analytics regardless of any earlier choice.

5. Cookies and on-device storage

PAN sets a small number of first-party cookies and stores certain preferences in your browser's local storage. Your theme, your bookmarks, and your consent decision live on your device only — they are never transmitted to our servers. The full, itemised list of cookies, with purposes and lifetimes, is on the Cookies page, where you can also re-open the consent panel at any time.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose data only to:

Article body content does not embed third-party tracking scripts. Web fonts are delivered by Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of normal font-file delivery; that request sets no cookies. Article images are served from our own content-delivery network.

7. Retention

Aggregated Google Analytics data is retained for the period configured in our Google Analytics property and is then deleted or anonymised by Google on that schedule. Server and CDN request logs are kept for a short operational window for security and debugging, then rotated out. On-device preferences persist until you clear them through your browser or the cookie panel.

8. Your rights

9. Children

PAN is a general-audience news service and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We review this policy quarterly. Material changes will be announced on the PAN homepage utility bar for at least fourteen days before they take effect, and the version above will increment. Past versions remain available on request.
