The head of the Emergency Response Committee in Deir ez-Zor, Fayez Abbas, announced that the Al-Ashara Bridge in Deir ez-Zor will be closed as of midnight on Tuesday, in preparation for the complete completion of all ongoing works.
Abbas explained in a post on the “X” platform late Monday evening that a “dump truck and a trailer” have been allocated to be continuously present at the bridge site to deal with any potential emergency after the reinforcement operations are completed.
Abbas stated that these measures come as part of completing the rehabilitation works and ensuring readiness and public safety at the site.
Abbas also indicated that the area of submerged agricultural land reached 16,870 dunams, with the most affected areas being Al-Khuraita, Hajin Al-Tahtani, and Muhaymida.
He pointed out that the total number of stations out of service reached 83, while 13 stations were returned to service.
He noted that earth barriers have been removed from 57 stations, with the “Euphrates Giant” station returning to operation at 100% capacity, and 38 tankers have been allocated for feeding and distributed to several areas including Al-Shamitiyah, Al-Masrab, Al-Bukamal, Al-Toub, Al-Mariyah, Subaykhan, Baqras, Al-Sour, Al-Ashara, and other areas.
The Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management announced on the twenty-eighth of last May the formation of a joint operations room in cooperation with the governorates of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, and the Ministry of Energy to follow up on developments and coordinate between various government and service entities, and to protect the population and property and reduce potential losses.
