Al Mukhtabar supports the development of medical diagnostics infrastructure in Egypt by launching the latest and most advanced hematology line inside the Mega Lab
- The new hematology line enhances the efficiency of the Mega Lab by increasing speed, accuracy, and operational capacity.
- The annual volume of tests exceeds 30 million analyses, with the hematology lab's operations fully relying on advanced automated operating systems.
Al Mukhtabar, the leading brand in medical diagnostics in Egypt, announced the launch of a new hematology line within the Mega Lab, the main central laboratory of Al Mukhtabar and one of the most advanced automated laboratories in the region.
This development represents a new step in supporting the medical diagnostics infrastructure in Egypt and improving the quality of service provided to patients and doctors across the republic.
The new Sysmex Blood Science Track line for hematology is the latest addition to Al Mukhtabar's ongoing investments in the Mega Lab, enabling doctors to obtain faster, more accurate, and more consistent results, and supporting diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up decisions within the healthcare system in the field of hematology.
The Mega Lab is the operational heart of Al Mukhtabar's network, which includes more than 460 branches nationwide, in addition to home visit services. This integrated central facility is designed to provide high-quality diagnostic services on a large scale by accommodating large numbers of samples and processing them according to standardized procedures, with real-time tracking and meticulous review, making it a reference model for centralized diagnostics in Egypt and the region.
In this context, Dr. Hind El-Sherbini, CEO of Integrated Diagnostics Holding (IDH), the parent company of Al Mukhtabar, said: "This new line represents more than just a technological development; it is an extension of Al Mukhtabar's commitment to elevating the level of medical diagnostics available to doctors and patients in Egypt. Every result issued from the lab contributes to supporting a medical decision, determining a treatment path, or giving the patient greater reassurance. By investing in the latest technologies and specialized expertise, we continue to support the healthcare system with the speed, accuracy, and reliability needed to improve health outcomes and enhance the pivotal role of diagnostics in the Egyptian health sector."
The new Sysmex Blood Science Track line adds significant operational capacity to the Mega Lab's hematology capabilities, exceeding 1,000 analyses per hour, while maintaining the high levels of accuracy and consistency required for complex tests. Hematology tests are a fundamental pillar in supporting doctors' decisions related to diagnosis and follow-up; for example, a complete blood count (CBC) provides important indicators of the patient's general health status and helps monitor key clinical signs and assess response to treatment.
The new line relies on an integrated operating system that directs each sample through the required testing stages, supports result verification, re-runs tests when needed, and activates additional tests according to specific protocols. This contributes to accelerating the issuance of results and providing more space for specialists to focus on cases that require careful review and specialized medical expertise.
For patients, this development translates into faster results and a smoother experience. For doctors, it means obtaining reliable results in a shorter time, supporting more accurate decisions in diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
The new line joins the advanced automated operating system of the Mega Lab, which has been developed in partnership with a selection of major global companies specializing in diagnostic technologies, including Roche, Siemens, and Sysmex. Each of these partnerships supports a key area of laboratory testing, while the latest addition enhances Al Mukhtabar's capabilities in the field of hematology.
Sherif El-Zeini, Vice President and Group CFO of Integrated Diagnostics Holding (IDH), said: "Our continuous investment in the Mega Lab reflects Al Mukhtabar's firm commitment to developing the medical diagnostics infrastructure that the healthcare sector in Egypt relies on. Since 2015, the group has invested in increasing the Mega Lab's operational capacity, introducing advanced testing technologies, and developing an automated operating system that serves millions of patients through a single central platform. We will continue to direct our investments towards enhancing accuracy, reliability, and speed of completion, which are the pillars of the care standard that Al Mukhtabar provides and that doctors and patients across Egypt depend on."
The Mega Lab houses more than 300 doctors and specialists in hematology, clinical chemistry, immunology, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, organ transplantation tests, and food and water analysis. It also offers more than 3,000 tests and examinations, including more than 300 specialized indicators not widely available elsewhere, along with advanced capabilities in diagnosing metabolic disorders, heavy metal analysis, and molecular diagnostics.
