Amazon has increased prices for its Echo, Fire TV, Kindle, and Eero products by up to 60 percent, citing "significant increases in memory and storage component costs." The company stated that it absorbed these cost increases for as long as possible before adjusting prices.
The cheapest products in Amazon's lineup were most affected. The Echo Dot smart speaker saw its price jump from $49.99 to $79.99. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max increased by over 40 percent to $84.99, and the base Kindle now costs $149.99, a nearly 37 percent increase.
Amazon's flagship Echo Dot Max smart speaker, launched last year, is now priced at $119.99, up from $99.99. This follows similar price hikes from competitors, such as Apple's HomePod Mini, which increased to $129 from $99.99 this summer due to rising costs. The Google Home Speaker currently remains at $99.99.
Products not apparently affected by these price increases include Amazon's Ring cameras and video doorbells, and the Echo Studio.
