Flooded streets, material damage and more than 20,000 users without electricity due to the storm
A severe storm on Friday left flooded streets, material damage and more than 22,000 people without electricity in the City of Buenos Aires and Greater Buenos Aires.
The downpour began after 8:30 p.m. with intermittent gusts that affected traffic in the capital and extended to northern Buenos Aires province, Santa Fe, Rosario and Entre Ríos, where hail fell in some areas. The Central Observatory recorded 88.7 mm of water in the City until midnight, with flooding in central areas.
The storms occurred in three moments during Friday: in the morning, at noon and in the late afternoon. Between the first and second episodes there was a spell of sun and a maximum temperature of 24.5 °C at 6 p.m., with high humidity.
As of 8 a.m. this Saturday, more than 22,000 users were still without power: more than 16,000 belonged to Edesur and almost 6,000 to Edenor. For Saturday, a low of 14 °C and a high of 19 °C are forecast, with isolated rains in the morning and partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Sunday will dawn mostly cloudy, with a low of 10 °C and a high of 15 °C.
