Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc received and worked with Ms. Kate Wallace, the new Consul General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of her beginning her term in the city. Economic cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Australia continues to grow positively. In 2025, two-way trade turnover reached nearly 1.83 billion USD; Australia currently has over 430 investment projects in the city with a total registered capital of about 773 million USD.

Sharing about the development orientation in the coming time, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said that the city is entering a new development phase with the goal of double-digit growth and building a modern, dynamic, creative urban area with a prominent position in the region. To realize this goal, the city hopes to continue receiving Australia's companionship in the fields of education and training, finance, investment, urban planning, logistics, renewable energy, innovation, and green transition. In particular, the Chairman expressed the hope that Australia will participate more deeply in the process of building the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City through sharing management experience, capital market development, human resource training, and connecting international investors.

Consul General Kate Wallace expressed her pleasure at starting her term in Ho Chi Minh City, a dynamic city with great development potential. She said that besides education, Australia is currently implementing many cooperation programs with Vietnam in the fields of climate change, energy transition, renewable energy, and digital transformation. Ms. Kate Wallace affirmed that Australia wishes to continue accompanying Ho Chi Minh City in the process of achieving its development goals, while also being ready to discuss further cooperation opportunities related to Ho Chi Minh City's International Financial Center in the coming time.
