BaxEnergy presents its industrial plan, aiming to triple revenues by 2028
ACIREALE (CATANIA) (ITALPRESS) – Growth based on digital innovation for energy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the enhancement of skills developed in Sicily. This is the direction of the 2026-2028 Industrial Plan presented by BaxEnergy, a partner company of the Yokogawa group, specializing in the development of software solutions for the management, monitoring, and control of energy assets.
The company, founded in Acireale in 2010 and acquired by the Japanese group in 2024, aims to consolidate its role in the digital energy market through a strategy combining organic growth and possible targeted acquisitions, while keeping the center of activities and skills in Sicily. The figures of the three-year plan – presented at the headquarters in via Sclafani in Acireale – outline a path of strong expansion. BaxEnergy expects to grow from the current 12.3 million euros in revenue to 32.6 million by 2028, with an average annual growth of 39%. Even more pronounced is the increase in EBITDA, which should reach 14.4 million euros compared to 2.4 million in 2025, with an average growth of 81%. Planned investments over the three years amount to approximately 16.5 million euros, while the workforce should grow from the current 140 units to around 210 employees.
Alongside internal growth, the plan also contemplates possible development operations through external lines, "some acquisitions" as explained by CEO Roberto Tundo, aimed at strengthening skills and technologies in the most advanced sectors of digital energy, from distributed energy resource management to cybersecurity and AI applications. During the presentation, the Sicilian CEO highlighted how the company's growth path was built starting from the local area to reach an international dimension. "We built a model at a local level with a global impact," he stated, emphasizing how the results achieved now allow the company to compete with major international players in the sector. "The numbers allow us to say that we have a competitive position against them," added the manager, referring to the quality of the relationship with Yokogawa.
During the presentation of the 2026-2029 industrial plan, Tundo reiterated the importance of the Acireale base. "The center of gravity will not be moved from Acireale. Here 140 people work and here there is a very strong lever for innovation. This expertise represents an asset for the entire Yokogawa group." The manager explained that the industrial model developed by the company fully meets the expectations of the Japanese group. "We built a scalable industrial platform, exactly the model the group expects from us, both through organic and inorganic growth."
One of the most significant directions of the plan concerns the integration of artificial intelligence into operational processes. AI is already used for optimizing energy production, predictive maintenance, and automating operational activities, always under human supervision. The goal is to transform data collected from plants into faster and more effective decisions, improving performance and availability of assets. At the same time, the weight of cybersecurity will grow, considered strategic in a context where energy infrastructures are increasingly exposed to cyber threats. The main development opportunities in the coming years are identified in four areas. The first concerns hybrid utility-scale renewable plants, which integrate production from different sources and storage systems, requiring advanced monitoring and control tools.
The second is represented by cybersecurity for industrial operational environments, driven both by regulatory evolution and the increase in threats towards critical infrastructures. The third pillar will be distributed energy resources (DERMS), a sector destined to grow with the increase in distributed generation and storage systems. Finally, the company looks at energy-intensive markets, particularly data centers, whose development is accelerated by the growing demand for computing capacity generated by artificial intelligence. Confirming the growth of the Sicilian company within the group was Takeshi Suzuki, general manager of the Renewable Energy Business Development Department of Yokogawa Electric Corporation. "Every time I visit this headquarters, I recall the extraordinary journey that has brought BaxEnergy from being a local entrepreneurial reality to becoming a company with a truly global impact."
According to Suzuki, the new Industrial Plan represents a fundamental step in the growth path undertaken by the company. "BaxEnergy has become an increasingly strategic component of our vision for the future of energy, digitalization, and sustainable industrial development. We have discovered not only a solid technological excellence but also a deep cultural affinity."
