Boris FX has acquired iZotope – the company behind RX, Ozone, Neutron and Nectar – adding some of the most widely used music production and post-production tools on the market to its existing DAW and visual effects portfolio.

Founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts, iZotope develops professional audio software for recording, mixing, mastering, broadcast and sound design, with tools that run across virtually every major DAW on the market. Beyond its own products, the company also licences audio DSP technology, including noise reduction, sample rate conversion, dithering and time stretching, to hardware and software manufacturers across both the consumer and pro audio industries.

RX has become the standard for audio repair and restoration on major film and television productions, while Ozone has been a mastering staple for over two decades. Both carry Academy and Emmy Award recognition, and the broader iZotope range is embedded across post houses, broadcast facilities and recording studios worldwide.

For Boris FX, an Academy and Emmy Award-winning visual effects developer, the acquisition adds iZotope’s machine learning research and toolset to an already substantial professional audio presence. The portfolio now spans DAWs, restoration, mastering, mixing and visual effects.

“iZotope is one of the most respected names in audio, pioneering developments in machine-learning-assisted audio. The team has built its reputation by creating tools that pros reach for when projects demand perfection. We’ve held ourselves – and our visual effects – to that same standard for thirty years. Together, we offer creators a single partner committed to excellence across everything they hear and see,” says Boris FX CEO and founder Boris Yamnitsky.

Todd Baker, VP of Product at iZotope says, “Joining forces with Boris FX is a massive catalyst for what we do best – changing the industry with new innovations in audio. In Boris FX, we’ve found a partner that shares our obsession for driving creative tech forward. We can’t wait to bring iZotope back to its roots with the next generation of intelligent tools.”

All products, licences and subscriptions remain fully active, with support and product development continuing without interruption. iZotope operates as its own business unit within Boris FX, and the core engineering, product and support teams stay in place.

The acquisition is the second change of ownership for iZotope in three years – acquired by Native Instruments in 2023, then moving to Boris FX following inMusic’s acquisition of Native Instruments, completed 30 June 2026.
