Barclay Hancock is set to be the new interim president and CEO at Central 1 after current president and CEO Sheila Vokey retires on Sept. 4.
Central 1 continues to seek a permanent president and CEO.
The organization's mandate is to be the central financial organization that provides essential payment processing, clearing, settlement and treasury services to credit unions and other financial institutions across Canada.
Through that work, Central 1 had about $9.2 billion in assets as of the end of March.
Hancock's appointment ensures leadership continuity and continued execution of Central 1's strategic priorities, the organization said in a press release.
"Following a thorough review of our leadership needs during this transition period, the board is confident that Barclay is the right person to lead Central 1 as interim president and CEO," said Shawn Neumann, chair of Central 1's board of directors and chair of the CEO selection committee.
"His leadership experience, collaborative approach, and commitment to Central 1's strategic priorities, clients and employees make him the right leader to guide the organization to continue delivering on commitments and advancing key initiatives.”
Barclay is now Central 1’s chief payments officer. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the Canadian and international financial services industry, Central 1 said.
The organization said that Barclay has played a key role in advancing Central 1’s payments business, with a particular focus on deepening client relationships.
