Liugong Island is located in the waters of Weihai City, Shandong Province. As the cradle of China's modern navy and the core battlefield of the First Sino-Japanese War, Liugong Island has well-preserved 58 historical and cultural buildings such as the Naval Office and the Naval Academy. It is the largest preserved site group of modern maritime defense facilities and the First Sino-Japanese War sites in China.
In recent years, Weihai City has leveraged its unique historical resource advantages to build the Liugong Island Education and Training Base for the Overall National Security Outlook, which is the first education and training base in China with the theme of the Overall National Security Outlook. The base has systematically integrated and built 28 on-site teaching points and 11 theme parks for the Overall National Security Outlook, achieving integrated layout and systematic utilization of various educational resources. Today, Liugong Island, which records a century of Chinese history, has become an important window for inheriting the red gene, popularizing security concepts, and consolidating the strength for progress.
