New quality productive forces continue to energize the fields, accelerating and improving the "three summers" production, clearly unfolding a picture of bumper harvest, and firmly consolidating the foundation of food security.
According to the latest wheat machine harvesting progress released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the main production areas of the Huang-Huai-Hai region are experiencing fine weather, which is conducive to the rapid advancement of centralized machine harvesting. Currently, the national wheat harvest progress has reached 77.53%. From the smart irrigation areas of the Sanjiang Plain to the intelligent wheat fields of the North China Plain, from the improved seed efforts in the Central Plains to the unmanned farms with dark harvesters, technological innovation is comprehensively empowering the entire chain of grain production, building a solid foundation for the country's granary with new quality productive forces, making the "Chinese rice bowl" more stable and more substantial.
People cannot live without grain, and grain cannot grow without land. Summer grain is the first season of the annual grain production, with winter wheat accounting for more than 90%. Although the total output is only 21% of the annual grain output, it is the core raw material for staple foods such as steamed buns and noodles on the Chinese table. Firmly grasping the summer grain harvest means securing the basic food supply. Currently, the national wheat harvest is unfolding in an orderly manner. As of 17:00 on June 11, the country has harvested 263 million mu of summer wheat, with the harvest progress steadily fixed at 77.53%. The wheat harvest in Henan has been fully completed, and the harvest progress in Jiangsu has exceeded 90%. Many places are seizing the fine weather window to operate at full speed, steadily taking the initiative in the race against the farming season.
As the farming proverb goes, "Wheat ripens in a flash, and the harvest must be snatched from the dragon's mouth." The window for wheat maturation is extremely short. If it over-ripens, the grains will fall off, causing losses. Coupled with the changeable thunderstorm weather in summer, in the past, summer harvesting could only be carried out in small batches, and limited manpower could easily delay the farming season. Now, relying on large-scale agricultural machinery scheduling, many places in China have launched saturated rush-harvest mode. Henan deployed 215,000 harvesters, Shandong deployed 172,000 harvesters simultaneously, and cross-regional harvesting machines shuttled back and forth, completely reversing the passive situation of relying on manual labor to cut wheat in the past. China's model of large-scale coordinated agricultural machinery harvesting has also attracted widespread attention on overseas social media platforms.
The most intuitive change brought by the implementation of new quality productive forces in the fields is the precise adaptation of agricultural machinery to different plots of land, minimizing harvest losses. Shandong coordinated 1.22 million units of various agricultural machinery for wheat harvesting and strictly controlled the machine harvesting loss rate. In the Beikuo Town, Lanshan District, Rizhao City, the area is semi-hilly with scattered plots and large slopes, making it impossible for conventional large agricultural machinery to enter the fields. Local authorities deployed 7 crawler harvesters adapted for sloping farmland to carry out joint operations, greatly improving operational efficiency. In Huantai County, Zibo, a large grain farmer used optimized and improved harvesters to harvest high-gluten wheat, completing the harvest of 1,200 mu of land in about five or six days, reducing the time by nearly half. Technology has intercepted grain losses in the fields.
Efficient mechanical harvesting is only one part of the story of technology supporting grain. The food security chain extends to storage and summer planting, with new quality productive forces providing full-process support. After the wheat is harvested, new drying equipment and innovative warehouse types significantly reduce grain storage losses; unmanned grain inspection and intelligent grain monitoring systems have been implemented, achieving unattended intelligent control in the grain storage link. The end of summer harvesting is seamlessly connected with summer planting, with precision seeding equipment and intelligent seedling-raising assembly lines being put into use one after another, coupled with the precise allocation of water resources in smart irrigation areas. The three processes of harvesting, planting, and management are seamlessly linked, and the agricultural rhythm is closely connected without any gaps. Storing grain in technology is not an empty slogan; new quality productive forces are taking root in the vast fields, making the foundation of agricultural modernization more solid.
With the sharp tool of technology, we can guard the granary year after year. New quality productive forces continue to energize the fields, accelerating and improving the "three summers" production, clearly unfolding a picture of bumper harvest, and firmly consolidating the foundation of food security.
