Claire's Accessories has officially closed all 154 of its standalone stores in Ireland and the United Kingdom, resulting in the redundancy of approximately 1,300 staff members. The closures were confirmed by a spokesperson for Kroll, the administrators appointed to oversee the process after the company filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. The company was acquired by a private equity firm, Modella Capital, last year. "As of April 27, all Claire’s standalone stores in UK and Ireland have ceased trading. All store employees have been advised of redundancy," a Kroll spokesperson stated. The spokesperson also noted that discussions are ongoing with landlords about potential new leases for some of the sites.
