Petr Pavel stated that Ukraine and its allies have about two months to take advantage of the current pressure on Russia and resume peace talks. According to the Czech president, after this, there is a risk of increased escalation from Moscow.

Petr Pavel said this in an interview with the Telegraph.

Why does Pavel say Ukraine and allies have 2 months to end the war?

The Czech leader believes that Ukraine's partners should use the current situation to force Russia back to the negotiating table in the coming weeks.

I believe we have a window of opportunity to continue applying pressure and give Russia a clear signal that we are ready to start negotiations,

Pavel said.

At the same time, the Czech president suggested that Russian leader Vladimir Putin may announce a new mobilization after the Russian parliamentary elections scheduled for September 20.

"In September, Russia will hold parliamentary elections. President Putin is unlikely to announce mobilization before that, but once the elections are over, this window of opportunity will narrow," he stated.

Pavel emphasized that Russia is currently facing a number of internal problems that Ukraine and its partners can use to increase pressure on the Kremlin.

"The Russian public is increasingly opposing the war. President Putin will find it difficult to maintain calm in the country, and if this pressure continues, if Ukraine can continue to successfully strike targets deep inside Russia, it will create conditions under which Russia will be more inclined to negotiate," the Czech president noted.

Recall that earlier Reuters reported that Vladimir Putin, despite having proposals to stop the war along the front line, is still preparing a new escalation. In particular, the Kremlin may be preparing new offensive operations or even provocations against other European states.
