Recommendations from Civil Protection

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has informed the competent state services as well as the regions and municipalities of the above areas to be on increased civil protection readiness in order to immediately deal with any fire incidents.

At the same time, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection advises citizens to be especially careful and avoid activities in the countryside that can cause a fire due to negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using machines that cause sparks like disc saws, welding devices, using outdoor grills, smoking beehives, throwing lit cigarettes, etc.

Furthermore, as the Fire Service announced, the 2nd stage of operational readiness of the Fire Service is put into effect and there will be increased aerial surveillance patrols as well as patrols by firefighting, police and military forces.

Additionally, the staff of the Fire Services of the above Regional Units will be placed on partial alert in order to meet the increased operational requirements that may arise due to very high fire risk (risk category 4).

At the same time, for these areas, the Civil Protection Action Plan for dealing with risks due to forest fires is being implemented, which, among other things, provides for the implementation of the measure of preventive prohibition of vehicle traffic and stay of excursionists in national parks, forests and "vulnerable" areas.

Fire Service instructions to citizens for fire prevention
