The Town of Diamond Valley has informed residents that construction on the Flood Berm Improvement Project is now underway.
Improvements consist of three distinct sections across Diamond Valley, and are designed to strengthen flood protection infrastructure and enhance community resilience.
Construction activities for Berm 1 will take place at the existing southern portion of the Riverside Park river berm and the work area will be limited to approximately 100 metres. It began on Sept. 8 and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.
The purpose of the project is to increase the height of the existing berm along the Sheep River and provide additional flood protection for residents in the lower Calkins Place area.
During construction, lower Riverside Park will remain closed to the public and residents may experience increased construction-related noise.
The Town of Diamond Valley said every effort will be made to minimize disruptions to nearby residents and park users.
“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this important flood mitigation work is completed,” the Town stated.
