Egypt Presents Economic Reform Program at OECD Ministerial Meeting

Egypt's Minister of Planning attended the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting to present the country's structural reform program and hold bilateral talks on economic cooperation.

Dr. Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, arrived in the French capital Paris to participate in the 2026 Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which will be held from June 3 to 5, 2026, under the theme "Setting the Right Economic Policies for Open Markets, Growth, and Prosperity."

National Program for Structural Reforms

Dr. Ahmed Rostom is scheduled to present the Egyptian experience in implementing the national program for structural reforms and its impact on supporting economic growth in the first session of the ministerial meeting entitled "Balancing the Goals and Impacts of Economic Policy."

He will also participate in the subsidiary session on "Financial Sustainability and Economic Policies" held within the activities of the second session of the meeting.

Furthermore, Dr. Ahmed Rostom will take part in the preparatory session to set the general framework for industrial policy discussions, as well as the session held under the title "Aligning Industrial Policies with Open, Fair Trade and Equal Opportunities," and the subsidiary session on "Creating an Enabling Environment for Investment."

Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

On the sidelines of the participations, Dr. Ahmed Rostom is scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings with senior officials of the OECD, including meetings with Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the organization; Andreas Schaal, Director of the Centre for Global Relations and Cooperation; Manal Corwin, Director of the Centre for Tax Policy and Administration; Louise de Mello, Director of the Economics Department; Elsa Pilichowski, Director of the Public Governance Directorate; and Bragnheidur Elin Arnadottir, Director of the OECD Development Centre.

Dr. Ahmed Rostom is also scheduled to meet with Roland Lescure, French Minister of Economy, Finance, Industry, Energy and Digital Sovereignty; David Clarinval, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy and Agriculture of Belgium; and Nadia Hay, French Ambassador for the Mediterranean region at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, to discuss areas of joint cooperation and exchange of expertise in economic development, investment, and public policies.
