Description
Currently, Aurora Store, including Nightly (2026-08-31), returns a “&$Server busy, please try again later.” error when attempting to install an application via an anonymous account. This error persists regardless of whether I use a VPN, clear the cache, refresh the anonymous account, force-close the app, or restart the device.
Since I do not have a Google account, I am unsure if this issue is specific to anonymous accounts.
Expected Behaviour
I would expect Aurora Store to install the application as it normally does.
Actual Behaviour
Instead, all applications fail to install, and Aurora Store presents an error that reads: "&$Server busy, please try again later."
Steps to Reproduce
- Search for an application
- Click the application's search result
- Click "Install"
Environment
- Device model & codename: Fairphone 5
- Android version: 16
- Aurora Store version: 4.8.4
- Nightly date: 2026-08-31
- Account Type: Anonymous
- Installation method: Session
- OS: CalyxOS 7.2.4.20
Discussion
Several users are experiencing the same issue, with the error message sometimes appearing in French: "> Le serveur est occupé. Veuillez réessayer ultérieurement".
Some users have found temporary workarounds, such as refreshing the anonymous account multiple times, clearing app data and cache, or using a Google account (though this defeats the purpose of using Aurora Store for some).
There is speculation that Google may be restricting access for third-party anonymous downloads, possibly due to upcoming requirements for application developer registration.
One user noted that changing the anonymous account seemed to resolve the issue temporarily. Another user suggested that Google might have changed its backend, and Aurora Store may not yet be able to parse the new API response schema.
