The Hellenic Armed Forces will cooperate with the Florida National Guard.
With the presence of the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias and the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Letter of Intent (LOI) was signed, paving the way for the cooperation of the Hellenic Armed Forces with the Florida National Guard. The agreement essentially marks Greece's entry into the US State Partnership Program (SPP), laying the groundwork for long-term and organized cooperation aimed at exchanging expertise, joint capability development, and further enhancing interoperability between the two sides.
According to the Ministry of National Defence, the scope of cooperation covers a wide range of activities of common interest. These include joint training and exercises, command and control issues, operational cooperation in joint fires and tactical maneuvers, logistics, air defence and air operations, as well as actions related to disaster response, space, cyber operations, resilience, and civil defence. The cooperation framework also provides for exchanges of personnel, training activities, and the transfer of best practices, while individual initiatives will be determined and coordinated on an annual basis.
The next steps involve specifying the areas in which cooperation will be developed, drawing up an annual program of activities, and the gradual implementation of joint training and other joint actions.
