India's markets regulator approved Danish brewer Carlsberg's (CARLb.CO) confidential pre-filing for an ‌initial public offering of its India business, a Securities and Exchange Board of India document showed on Thursday.

Carlsberg filed for the IPO confidentially in July, a route that allows companies to keep draft filings private until the launch.

The listing would not raise fresh capital, but allow the parent company to sell part of its stake, Reuters previously reported, ‌citing two sources.

Carlsberg joins a growing number of multinational companies seeking to tap India's buoyant equity markets and monetise investments in the country.

The potential listing would add to an already busy year for India's IPO market, with planned offerings from Jio Platforms and the recently listed National Stock Exchange of India (NSEI.BO) testing investor appetite.
