Hulunbuir, June 26 (Grassland Cloud·Inner Mongolia News Network reporters Liang Liang, Li Xinjun, Li Kexin) On June 26, with the completion and commissioning of the State Grid Mengdong Electric Power 10 kV Qiqian Line new construction project, Qiqian Township, the last administrative township in Inner Mongolia not covered by the main grid, was connected to the main power supply. Thus, Inner Mongolia has achieved full coverage of township main grid.
Qiqian Township is located on the China-Russia border, along the Ergun River and deep in the primitive forest of the northern Greater Khingan Range, 380 kilometers from Ergun city center. Besides permanent residents, it also houses units such as the Forest Police Squadron and the Northern Primitive Forest Management Station. For a long time, due to geographical constraints, it relied solely on photovoltaic power supply, with frequent voltage fluctuations, severely restricting local economic development and residents' production and life.
To solve the power shortage, the Ergun Municipal Committee and Government actively coordinated with State Grid Mengdong Hulunbuir Power Supply Company, launching the Qiqian Township electrification project in September 2023. The task force made 12 trips to Beijing and Hohhot to process approvals, communicated with forestry, grassland, ecological, and natural resources departments over 40 times, completed three full-area forest field surveys and four special ecological protection plans, creating conditions for the project.
"The total project investment is 14.19 million yuan, with 41.16 kilometers of new 10 kV lines, 5 distribution transformers installed, total capacity 750 kVA. Strict ecological protection requirements, complex construction terrain, and extreme difficulty." said Fan Haixin, Deputy Director of the Distribution Network Office of State Grid Hulunbuir Power Supply Company. "We optimized construction routes and plans to minimize forest land occupation and surface disturbance and ecological impact. Facing extreme cold, hard frozen soil, and inaccessible uninhabited forests where large machinery could not enter, construction personnel stayed in the forest area, lived and worked on the front line. In areas where machinery could not operate, they transported equipment manually; where the ground was too hard to excavate, they used breakers to dig pole holes point by point, building a border 'steel line' with rigorous construction standards that could withstand extreme cold and snow."
"Previously relying on photovoltaic power, we had only about 6 hours of electricity per day, and it was unavailable during cloudy or rainy days. Now we bid farewell to the days of 'depending on the weather'." said Yang Nannan, a Qiqian village resident, full of joy.
Villager Gao Yanshuang has been preparing for full power since the beginning of this year: replacing electrical wiring in his home-stay and equipping it with full set of appliances. "With a refrigerator, wild fruits and mountain vegetables can be preserved. With appliances in the home-stay, tourists will have a better experience."
Qiqian Township Party Secretary Liu Xiaoxing has already drawn a development blueprint after electrification: "Qiqian Village is one of the first autonomous region-level historical and cultural villages, with three autonomous region-level cultural relic protection units and 44 Russian-style log houses. The primitive forest is rich in wild berries, precious birds and animals, and medicinal plants, with unique ecological and cultural resources." Her eyes sparkled, "This full connection to the main grid has made up for the infrastructure shortcomings of Qiqian Township. We will turn the power advantage into development advantage, let more people see and yearn for this forest secret, and let border residents increase income and get rich with the help of this 'electric wind'."
