Iran Warns: If US Attacks Again, It Will Destroy Middle East Oil and Gas Facilities
Cairo, 1st (Central News Agency, combined foreign report) Iran warned over the weekend that the United States must not take any "adventurous action," and said that if U.S. forces follow through on President Donald Trump's threat of a new wave of attacks on Iranian targets, Iran will respond with decisive retaliation.
According to Reuters, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi made the remarks today in phone calls with senior officials from Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The comments came just hours after Kuwait's military said it had destroyed hostile drones that Iran had launched at several of its vital installations.
According to a message posted on Araqchi's Telegram account, during his calls with Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, he said Iran would respond decisively to any "aggression," and the officials discussed the consequences of the United States' "destabilizing actions" and the risk of a worsening regional situation.
Araqchi then told Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan that any attack by the United States or Israel, or participation by regional countries in such actions, would be met with a "proportionate response" from Iran.
Nournews, a media outlet affiliated with Iran's top security body, said today that if the United States attacks Iran's energy infrastructure, it would trigger Iranian strikes on oil fields in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as gas fields in Qatar and Israel, threatening that "everything will be burned to ashes."
At a cabinet meeting at Camp David yesterday, Trump said he believes U.S. negotiators — including his son-in-law Jared Kushner, envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio — can still reach an agreement with Iran.
But Trump also said he is gradually losing confidence in the Iranians, saying "they break their promises too often," while Tehran frequently levels the same accusation at Washington. Trump added that he will "hit them" (Iran). (Compiled by Chen Yuting) 1150802
