A large block of horticultural land driven past by thousands of commuters travelling between Hastings and Napier each day is for sale.
The flat block covers 174 hectares in Clive, and is mainly known as 272 State Highway 51.
The land is owned by BL Land Company Ltd, itself owned by the Brownrigg family and Andrew Lowe, according to records.
The property is being sold by real estate company Bayleys.
The block is available for sale in its entirety, or as four separate blocks comprising 33.47ha, 68.76ha and 39.53ha of bare land, and a 34.63ha apple orchard leased to Enzafruit.
“It is very rare, if ever in your career, you get the opportunity to market a property of this calibre and scale in Hawke’s Bay,” Bayleys Hawke’s Bay principal James Macpherson said.
“It is a privilege to market the property – it has been very well looked after by its current owner and will continue to produce high-value fruit or produce into the future.”
He said interest was expected to be strong within the Hawke’s Bay horticulture community, nationally, and internationally.
The land is zoned Plains Production in the District Plan, meaning it is to be used for growing purposes rather than housing.
Investors and growers are invited to place a tender by Friday, July 31, through Bayleys.
