The owner of a local trucking company says he will be forced to raise prices if oil prices remain high and the federal excise tax returns.

Ottawa extended its tax relief earlier this month to early in the new year in an effort to keep costs down.

Akita Equipment general manager Alex Driscoll says his company has already had to raise prices over the past year to keep up with the soaring cost of fuel.

Analysts are warning that prices will climb even higher due to continued limited supply. Driscoll says like most businesses, as costs rise, so does the amount they charge.
