Forest fire intervention is underway in the Marmaris district of Muğla.

The fire, which started in the coastal area of Yalancıboğaz, spread to the forest.

Upon notification, intervention is being carried out by 7 aircraft, 16 helicopters, 21 fire trucks, 6 water tankers, 2 bulldozers, and 178 personnel from the Muğla Forest Regional Directorate.

Crews are working to bring the flames under control.

INTERVENTION CONTINUES

Intervention continues for the forest fire that broke out in Kaba Kargı Bay in Yalancıboğaz Neighborhood of Marmaris district of Muğla. Firefighting efforts are ongoing with 16 helicopters, 7 aircraft, 21 fire trucks, 6 water tankers, 2 bulldozers, and 178 personnel.

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR AKBIYIK

Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık came to the fire area in Marmaris district and made statements. Akbıyık said, "Around 17:45 today, we received a report of a forest fire in the Ataköy vicinity of our Marmaris district. Within 10 minutes, we started intervening with the aerial vehicles of the Forest Regional Directorate. The terrain where the fire started is very large. Unfortunately, we have no land access. Therefore, we intervened mainly from the sea and air. However, our efforts to open roads from land are also continuing."

Akbıyık stated that the Ministry of National Defense and the Aksaz Naval Base Command also supported the efforts, saying, "Our landing ships transported our fire trucks and forest fire fighting personnel to the fire area. Additionally, Coast Guard boats are also transporting our personnel to the fire area. They are also trying to intervene with large water tanker ships."

'THE ENERGY OF A PART OF THE FIRE HAS DECREASED'

Providing information about the current situation of the fire, Governor Akbıyık said, "The energy of a part of the fire has decreased, and a part of it is still ongoing. 3 of our helicopters are currently working. We aim to bring it under control and reduce its energy."
