On the night of June 2, the Russian army carried out one of the largest combined attacks on Ukrainian territory in recent times, using attack drones, cruise, and ballistic missiles. The occupiers deployed strategic aviation Tu-160 and Tu-95MS, as well as Kalibr missile carriers in the Caspian Sea. The strikes resulted in deaths, dozens of injuries, and significant destruction of civilian infrastructure in several regions. This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and local authorities.

The first phase of the attack began in the evening after 21:00, when Russian troops launched several groups of kamikaze drones towards Ukrainian cities. Closer to midnight, a missile strike began. In the Caspian Sea, the occupiers launched Kalibr cruise missiles, simultaneously sending strategic bombers into the air.

In Kyiv, the air raid alert was accompanied by a series of explosions. Initially, the city was attacked by drones, and later by cruise and ballistic missiles. Damage to energy infrastructure in the Podilskyi, Obolonskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts caused power outages. The consequences of the shelling were recorded immediately in seven districts of the capital. This was reported by Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.

In the Podilskyi district, a fire broke out on the territory of a non-residential building, and debris fell on the roof of a nine-story building, where a subsequent strike caused partial structural collapse. Another non-residential building also caught fire. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, debris damaged a residential building, causing a fire on several floors. There were preliminary reports of a missile hitting a 24-story building. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a residential building and a non-residential structure caught fire.

In the Obolonskyi district, debris ignited cars and caused fires near a kindergarten. In the Holosiivskyi district, a strike damaged a polyclinic building, destroying floors and causing a fire. Additionally, commercial pavilions and non-residential premises burned. In the Darnytskyi district, debris caused a fire at a gas station and another building. In the Solomianskyi district, a missile struck a multi-story residential building, damaging the upper floors, and drone falls caused fires in the private sector.

As of the morning, Kyiv reported four dead and 58 injured. The attack on the capital continued after dawn. According to preliminary information, Russian forces may have used Zircon missiles.

Kharkiv also came under massive attack. Russian forces fired two missiles and 15 drones at the city. This was reported by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov. The Osnovianskyi district suffered the most, with private houses, administrative buildings, civilian infrastructure, and the territory of a kindergarten damaged. In the Slobidskyi district, the blast wave damaged an apartment building, cars, and power grids. In the Nemyshlianskyi district, a strike caused an office building to catch fire, and in the Kyivskyi district, strikes hit industrial enterprise territories. Ten people, including a child, were injured in the attack.

In Dnipro, Russian strikes partially destroyed a two-story residential building and several apartments in a four-story building. This was reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha. Fires also broke out in residential buildings of various heights. According to the latest data, six people died in the city, and 36 were injured. Among the injured is a 13-year-old girl, whose condition is assessed as moderate. Three injured are in serious condition.

In Zaporizhzhia, massive strikes began on the evening of June 1. The events on the ground were reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov. The city was hit by at least 20 strikes using various types of weapons. Critical and industrial infrastructure facilities, as well as a private house, were damaged. Casualty data is being clarified.

In Sumy, explosions occurred around 01:05. This was reported by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Artem Kobzar. According to preliminary information, there were no civilian casualties. In the Zarichnyi district, a drone hit a multi-story building, causing heavy smoke. In the Kovpakivskyi district, a drone struck a private house, causing the roof to catch fire.
