People's Daily Online, Chengmai, June 23 (Reporter Li Xueshan) — The 2026 new energy vehicle rural activities, with the theme "Green, Low-carbon, Smart, Safe — Smart Travel to Thousands of Counties and Towns, Green Benefits for Rural Households", will be launched soon. This activity is jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Commerce and other five departments. The national launch ceremony will be held on June 25 in Tacheng, Xinjiang, and Chengmai, Hainan, simultaneously.
The Hainan Chengmai sub-venue is set up at the "Global Export Window", co-hosted by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China Automobile Dealers Association, China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance, China Center for Information Industry Development, and the Hainan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, Development and Reform Commission, Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Department of Commerce, and organized by the Chengmai County Government and Hainan New Energy Vehicle Promotion Center.
On June 18, the new energy vehicle rural service platform officially released the 2026 rural vehicle catalogue, with a total of 155 models selected, covering mainstream technical routes such as pure electric, plug-in hybrid, and extended-range. The catalogue focuses on models with long range, strong passability, and high practicality, accurately matching the diverse needs of rural daily commuting, short-distance freight, and family travel.
It is noteworthy that this catalogue not only includes mainstream models from traditional brands such as FAW Hongqi, BYD, and GAC Aion, but also for the first time includes popular models from new forces and foreign brands such as Xiaomi SU7, Tesla Model 3, greatly enriching the choice for rural consumers.
As a pioneering province in the promotion of new energy vehicles nationwide, Hainan is at the forefront in the construction of charging and battery-swapping infrastructure. As of now, Hainan Power Grid Company has built 934 charging stations and 8,362 charging guns, forming a "25-minute charging circle in the main urban areas of Haikou and Sanya, and a 100-kilometer fast-charging radiation circle within the province," with a fully connected highway fast-charging network. All townships in the province have achieved 100% coverage of charging piles. The "one-network" platform for charging and swapping has connected 5,908 charging stations, 95 battery-swapping stations, and about 74,900 charging guns, achieving 100% access for public charging piles in the province. The well-established charging infrastructure provides a solid guarantee for the promotion of new energy vehicles in rural Hainan.
With the guarantee of complete charging infrastructure, supporting services are also being synchronized. From June to November, the activity will radiate across the province, selecting 7 cities and counties including Chengmai to organize multiple sessions of new energy vehicle rural activities with the theme "Green, Low-carbon, Smart, Safe — Empowering Beautiful Countryside, Enjoying a Better Travel Experience." The activities will focus on exhibitions, science popularization, policy promotion, and financial services, combining online and offline methods to precisely deliver favorable policies such as car purchase subsidies and trade-ins, as well as practical knowledge such as safe charging and vehicle maintenance to rural consumers, allowing rural residents to enjoy one-stop convenient services from car selection, purchase to use at their doorstep.
According to the activity schedule, the launch ceremony of the Hainan Chengmai sub-venue will be held on June 25 at the "Global Export Window". After the ceremony, the new energy vehicle roadshow will officially start.
From June 25 to 27, the roadshow will be held at the parking area of the Hainan Old City Science and Technology New City Software Park and Xinyi Glass (Hainan) Co., Ltd. The roadshow will include rich activities such as model displays, test drives, policy presentations, and intention docking, allowing park employees and consumers from surrounding townships to experience new energy vehicle products. All roadshow vehicles will be uniformly decorated with activity theme stickers, playing a mobile propaganda role along the way.
At that time, urban and rural consumers will experience the green and smart charm of new energy vehicles at their doorstep, sharing the travel upgrade brought by policy dividends.
