New Smartwatches Unveiled with Advanced Health and Performance Features

Not content with the addition of a hall effect keyboard to its repertoire, Razer has announced the release of the Huntsman V3 Low-Profile Tenkeyless 8kHz.

It’s not the company’s first low-profile keyboard, and it technically isn’t its first in that category with optical switches (the Deathstalker is one example). It is, however, the first optical low-profile keyboard in its lineup to have analog capability.

This category is still a surprisingly small one, though it does have other players. The new Huntsman’s will have to compete with boards like Nuphy’s Air75 HE and Logitech’s G515 Rapid TKL.

Being low-profile, Razer had to develop a new switch to get the board’s height down. Simply dubbed the Razer Low-profile Analog Optical Switch, they have a travel of 0.1 to 2.8mm. But even with this shorter distance, they’re still capable of adjustable actuation.

They also support usual list of features found on other analog Razer keyboards, including Rapid Trigger Mode, Snap Tap and Snap Flex. You can also find two more features that, along with Snap Flex, form the Advanced Input Control suite: Dual Keypress Priority prevents accidental keypresses from messing up your in-game movement, while Dynamic Keystroke lets a single key perform up to four actions depending on how far it’s pressed.

The low-profile switches have an actuation force of 40g. Having such a light weighting is admittedly a bit puzzling – setting an actuation point above 2.0mm would make them too easily triggerable, but an actuation point below that and you’re basically bottoming out constantly (unless you type delicately enough to distinguish between tenths of a millimetre).

Accidental keypresses may be a problem, especially if you’re the type to rest your hands on the keyboard when not typing. But on the flipside, comfort is a priority for most people shopping for a low-profile board, and a lighter weighting would be preferable in that regard. This is also a situation where having adjustable actuation is a boon.

As for the other features on the new Huntsman, the board has up to a 8,000Hz polling rate, and a front height of just 19.5mm. It lacks a few of the extra buttons that are on larger Razer boards, though you still get a remappable macro button, a multi-function media key and a dial. The USB-C cable on the Huntsman is also detatchable.

The Razer Huntsman V3 Low-Profile Tenkeyless 8kHz is available now on its usual channels: Razer’s online store, RazerStores as well as select retailers. You can also get it on Razer’s Lazada and Shopee pages. Pricing is pretty simple, as there’s only one variant (no other colours for now) that costs S$369.
