New Taipei Partners with Four Schools in the University System of Taipei to Offer Courses, Helping High School and Vocational Students Explore Professional Fields at Top Universities Early
Today (August 3), the New Taipei City Department of Education partnered with the University System of Taipei to officially launch the "Future Top Talent" course program. Integrating the distinctive resources of four universities — National Taipei University, National Taipei University of Technology, Taipei Medical University, and National Taiwan Ocean University — the program offers four themed course tracks: law and business, AI, medicine, and marine science. It also opens up professional hands-on venues at the universities, allowing senior high school and vocational high school students to enter top-tier campuses early, explore professional fields, and develop cross-disciplinary practical abilities and future competitiveness.
Chang Ming-wen, director of the Department of Education, said New Taipei continues to promote educational innovation and talent cultivation, actively building a co-learning mechanism between high schools and universities so that students can be exposed to university-level courses and industry development trends during their high school years, explore their interests early, and accumulate learning portfolios and cross-disciplinary skills. The collaboration with the University System of Taipei not only extends top-university professional resources downward into high school education, but also ties in with the "High School AI + Science, Technology, and Math Holiday Enhancement Program" to help students deepen their AI and STEM literacy, nurturing future top talent with cross-disciplinary integration capabilities and international competitiveness.
Lin Dao-tong, president of National Taipei University, the lead institution of the University System of Taipei, pointed out that the courses planned by the four universities combine each school's characteristics with industry development trends and provide students with real opportunities to walk into university settings. National Taipei University centers on law and AI, business innovation, community inclusion, and design thinking. National Taipei University of Technology focuses on AI modeling, data analysis, Vibe Coding, and sports technology.
Taipei Medical University has planned courses on the medical Internet of Things, dental technology experience, aging-related issues, and medical career exploration. National Taiwan Ocean University offers distinctive courses such as marine energy, marine biomedical technology, smart aquaculture, and pollution identification, guiding students to explore a wide range of professional fields and develop cross-disciplinary literacy and practical skills in law and business, AI, medicine, and marine science. Xiao Huijie, a second-year student at Jinhe High School, said she looks forward to participating in Taipei Medical University's medical simulation course to learn more about the actual work of medical personnel and use it as a reference for choosing a future department. First-year student Li Yiru said he looks forward to the AI application course at National Taipei University of Technology, hoping to develop cross-disciplinary integration skills through hands-on practice and prepare for future studies and career development.
The Department of Education said that since promoting the "High School-University Co-creation Learning Matching Platform" and the "New Taipei Grand Education Plan" in 2019, New Taipei has invested more than NT$20 million, cooperated with 90 universities and colleges, and offered more than 250 free courses and camps covering all 18 academic clusters. The number of participating high schools has grown from 10 to 47, continuing to build the most complete university resource-sharing learning network in Taiwan. The "Future Top Talent" courses launched with the University System of Taipei will be staged from October 2026 to June 2027, with registration opening in September 2026 (https://learningcollaboration.org/). Students from New Taipei's senior high schools and vocational high schools are encouraged to register.
