Nvidia (NVDA) Announces AI Cloud Platform in Germany for Industrial Applications
Nvidia will build its first artificial intelligence cloud platform for industrial applications in Germany, CEO Jensen Huang said this Wednesday at the VivaTech conference in Paris.
The technology, combining AI with robotics, will help automakers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz in processes ranging from product design simulation to logistics management.
In announcements targeting Europe, Huang outlined plans to expand technology centers in seven countries, open Nvidia's computing market to European companies, help multilingual AI model creators become more advanced, and assist in drug discovery.
"In just two years, we will increase the amount of AI computing capacity in Europe tenfold," Huang said in a nearly two-hour presentation.
"Europe has now awakened to the importance of AI factories and the importance of AI infrastructure," he said, presenting plans for 20 AI factories – large-scale infrastructure designed to develop, train, and deploy AI models – in Europe.
Although Europe has lagged behind the US and China in developing AI technologies, the European Commission said in March it plans to invest $20 billion to build four AI factories.
Huang has been touring the world to highlight the importance of companies adopting AI and the dangers of falling behind.
In addition to AI, Huang reiterated his view that quantum computing technology is at an inflection point.
Quantum calculations could solve problems that currently require years of processing from Nvidia's most advanced AI systems.
Quantum computing will solve "some interesting problems" in the coming years, Huang added.
