Octopus Luce e Gas absorbs almost 1 million euros in one year to protect customers from price increases

The company, in fact, has decided to internally absorb the DispBT component, one of the items in the bill for the compensation of the electricity system, preventing this cost from being transferred to all its customers. The DispBT component, defined by ARERA, is a technical fee that serves to compensate for system costs such as losses from illegal connections, ordinary defaults and costs related to the exit of customers with uncovered debts, incentives for the spread of digital billing. If previously this item represented a small credit in favor of the user, recent provisions have turned it into a net cost for consumers in the free market.

"As an operator in the sector, we could have simply applied this increase and pocketed the difference, but we chose the opposite path. We are the first to announce a measure like this because we believe that the energy market must finally become fairer and safer," said Giorgio Tomassetti, CEO of Octopus Energy Italia, at the time of the announcement.
