The exclusive benefit for drivers funded by the Peruvian State that helps save up to 60% on fuel
The program finances conversions with amounts up to S/200,000, has already supported more than 174,000 conversions in the country and will expand access to GNV in Piura with new supply stations.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) relaunched the GNV Savings Program, an initiative that aims to facilitate the conversion of vehicles to natural gas vehicle (GNV) through interest-free financing. The measure is aimed at transporters and owners of private vehicles who wish to reduce their fuel expenses and access a lower-cost energy alternative.
The relaunch took place in Piura with the participation of authorities from Minem and the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE). During the event, it was highlighted that the use of GNV can represent savings of up to 60% in fuel spending, in addition to contributing to reducing polluting emissions.
GNV Savings Program: these people can access financing
The GNV Savings Program is aimed at owners of taxis, buses, trucks, motorcycle taxis and private vehicles interested in converting their units to run on natural gas vehicle. Financing is granted with no down payment and with no interest, with the aim of expanding access to this technology in different regions of the country.
According to FISE, the system allows the financed amount to be repaid gradually through natural gas refills, preventing beneficiaries from having to assume additional monthly payments. In this way, users can begin using the fuel from the first day while paying off the financing progressively.
This is the amount the State finances to convert a vehicle to GNV
The program finances up to S/6,800 for the conversion of light vehicles, up to S/2,500 for three-wheelers, and up to S/200,000 for heavy cargo units. Minem noted that these amounts seek to facilitate the incorporation of GNV in different types of transport without generating financial costs for users.
According to official information, the program has already financed more than 174,000 conversions nationwide and 2,849 in the Piura region. In addition, authorities indicated that this region currently has five GNV supply stations and that four more will soon be added, which will expand access to fuel for drivers and transporters interested in taking advantage of the benefit.
