PHILADELPHIA, PA — A Philadelphia man was sentenced Tuesday to 11½ years in federal prison and ordered to pay $119,100 in restitution after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a series of armed robbery attempts targeting Brinks armored trucks in Philadelphia and Montgomery County.

U.S. District Judge Gail A. Weilheimer sentenced Dante Shackleford, 27, to 138 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney David Metcalf.

Shackleford pleaded guilty in April to one count of Hobbs Act robbery, three counts of attempted Hobbs Act robbery and one count of carrying, using and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. He had been charged in a superseding indictment in January.

According to court filings and Shackleford’s admissions as part of his guilty plea, he participated with others in four incidents involving Brinks trucks between July and October 2025.

The first was an attempted robbery in Philadelphia on July 15, followed by another attempted robbery in Elkins Park on July 22. Shackleford admitted participating in the Aug. 12 robbery of a Brinks truck in Elkins Park and another attempted robbery in Philadelphia on Oct. 3.

Shackleford admitted stealing $119,100 from Brinks in connection with the offenses, according to federal prosecutors.

His co-defendant, Mujahid Davis, 24, of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty in March to two counts of attempted Hobbs Act robbery, two counts of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of carrying, using and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

Davis was sentenced last week to 11 years in federal prison.

The FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force and Philadelphia Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Robert Eckert and Kwambina Coker prosecuted it.
