Mikrosatelity MikroGlob nr 2, 3 i 4 have been launched into orbit and communication has been established, announced Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on Friday. He emphasized that the constellation purchased by the Armed Forces will enhance reconnaissance and imaging capabilities.

"Another success of our space program. MikroGLOB microsatellites no. 2, 3, and 4 have been launched into orbit. Communication established," the Minister of Defense wrote on platform X on Friday.

He noted that placing the microsatellites into orbit is "another step towards strengthening Poland's security." "The satellite constellation acquired by the Polish Armed Forces will increase our capabilities for obtaining reconnaissance and imaging data."

According to the Minister of Defense, "this is a great success of Polish technological thought, industry, and everyone involved in this project."

Earlier on Friday, Creotech Instruments, a company involved in the project, announced that it had established two-way communication with the newly launched satellites: Mikroglob-2, Mikroglob-3, and Mikroglob-4. Telemetry data regarding the satellites' subsystems was also received.

This is related to the contract signed in December 2024 by the Armaments Agency with Creotech Instruments for expanding the capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces in acquiring reconnaissance data using a satellite Earth observation system. According to the contract, worth PLN 556.7 million, four microsatellites were to be delivered to Poland.

This contract is part of the MikroGlob Satellite Earth Observation System project, which involves building a constellation of optoelectronic microsatellites. The Mikroglob project covers phases B, C, D, and E1 according to the ECSS (European Collaboration for Space Standardization) methodology, with the project's completion, including the handover of the MikroGlob System to the Polish Ministry of Defense, scheduled for March 31, 2027.
