The Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC) is sponsoring the participation of eight Puerto Rican companies in the 30th anniversary edition of the Americas Food & Beverage Show & Conference, held this week at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
The delegation is showcasing Puerto Rican food and beverage products to buyers, distributors, wholesalers, and other industry professionals as part of an effort to expand export opportunities in the United States and international markets.
“This is a great opportunity for our entrepreneurs to showcase the diversity of our exportable products to potential buyers, distributors, and wholesalers in the food and beverage sector,” Governor Jenniffer González Colón said.
“Puerto Rico brings much more than distinctive flavors to this international platform. It brings quality, innovation, talent, and entrepreneurs with the ability and determination to compete successfully in global markets. We want the eight companies to return to Puerto Rico with good news,” she added.
According to Leonyl Ortiz González, director of the DDEC’s PromoExport program, the participating companies are Campo Caribe, Dulzura Borincana, Hacienda 3 Soles, Indulac, Pan Pepín, Rovira, Papa Pedro Rum, and Pac-Tech (Cristalia).
The Puerto Rican companies are exhibiting their products alongside more than 900 exhibitors from over 25 countries.
Expanding Export Opportunities
DDEC Secretary Carlos Ríos Pierluisi highlighted Puerto Rico’s longstanding participation in the Americas Food & Beverage Show and the opportunities the event provides for local businesses to establish commercial relationships and reach new markets.
“Puerto Rico arrived in Miami with a strong and diverse selection of food and beverage products,” Ríos Pierluisi said.
“For years, our island has maintained a strong presence at the Americas Food & Beverage Show, creating opportunities for Puerto Rican companies to showcase their products, strengthen business relationships, and connect with buyers and potential partners,” he added.
Ríos Pierluisi said the department would continue supporting local companies and organizing their participation in international trade events to promote the growth of Puerto Rican exports.
Ortiz González emphasized the importance of helping local businesses identify new opportunities and expand their international reach.
“Behind every participant in this year’s delegation is a story of hard work, perseverance, and ambition. We are committed to supporting our local companies as they identify new opportunities, expand their reach, and take the next step toward internationalization and growth,” he said.
Thousands of Industry Professionals Expected
The Americas Food & Beverage Show brings together buyers, distributors, importers, exporters, wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers, and other representatives of the food and beverage industry.
Organizers expect more than 10,000 industry professionals and decision-makers to attend the event. According to the organizers, approximately 87% of attendees have purchasing authority.
The trade show provides participating companies with opportunities to present their products directly to potential buyers and distributors, explore export and distribution opportunities, and identify potential entry points into new markets.
The event also features business meetings, networking activities, conferences, seminars, and product demonstrations.
The participation of the Puerto Rican companies is partially funded through the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
