WATCH: Lebanon’s fragile ceasefire – Three months later

While officials describe the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel as a roadmap toward ending hostilities, critics question whether Lebanon traded accountability for a ceasefire.

This video looks at what happened during the three months of the fragile ceasefire: continued Israeli airstrikes, more than one million people displaced.

Watch below:

A recap of recent developments

  • Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has met with US envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who are in Doha to discuss the US-Iran agreement.
  • Iranian negotiators are also in Doha, but no face to face talks are planned.
  • Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf insists Tehran will not begin talks on a final agreement with the US before Washington implements provisions on ending hostilities in Lebanon, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, waivers on Iran oil exports and release of frozen Iranian funds.
  • US Vice-President JD Vance says oil traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has “reached its pre-war height” and that agreements on Lebanon say “its territorial integrity will be respected”.
  • Israel claims killing another Hezbollah fighter in southern Lebanon as Israeli media report that the withdrawal of troops from two “pilot zones” in Zawthar and Froun has been delayed pending an agreement on a US oversight mechanism.
  • A Hamas delegation holds talks with Egypt and Turkiye’s intelligence chiefs in Cairo to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza.
