The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don (Russia) sentenced 45-year-old Ukrainian prisoner of war Artem Sheiko to 18 years in prison on charges of 'participation in a terrorist group and preparation for terrorism'. This was reported by Mediazona citing the court's press service. The charges against Sheiko were brought due to his service in the Azov Regiment, which Russia has designated a terrorist organization. According to the Russian investigation, Sheiko joined Azov in early 2015, where he served as a battery operator in the armored vehicle repair company and fought against the 'DPR' terrorists until mid-May 2022. Then the Ukrainian was taken prisoner along with other Azov fighters who were hiding at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. According to the WarTears project, which publishes the names of Ukrainian prisoners of war, Sheiko's call sign was 'Kamin'. Sheiko will be held in a high-security colony, the court added. ForUA reminds that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 250 Azov servicemen have received sentences in Russian captivity on various charges.
