A shooting in Baltimore's Washington Hill neighborhood left seven people injured, including a 3-year-old boy, on Wednesday night.
The shooting, as reported by local news channel WBFF, took place in the historic East Baltimore neighborhood, with police officers, detectives and emergency crews rushing to the area. Several victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The condition of all seven victims was not immediately available. The victims suffered gunshot and shrapnel-related injuries, according to the information available so far.
Baltimore police cordoned off parts of the neighborhood following the shooting as investigators began collecting evidence and speaking to witnesses.
Detectives are also expected to review surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses as they work to establish what led to the gunfire and identify those responsible.
Authorities have not yet publicly established a motive or confirmed whether more than one shooter was involved.
Washington Hill is a residential neighborhood in East Baltimore, close to Johns Hopkins Hospital, and with rows of closely packed homes and narrow streets.
Police are asking residents and others who may have witnessed the shooting to come forward. Investigators are also seeking security-camera or dashcam footage that could help establish what happened before, during or after the gunfire.
