Violation of Comprehensive Special Investigation Act Article 12... Likely to examine connection to Kim Keon-hee

[Seoul=Newspim] Reporter Kim Young-eun = It has been confirmed that the second Comprehensive Special Investigation Team (Special Investigation Team) plans to summon former Black Pearl Invest CEO Lee Jong-ho for questioning regarding the 'alleged lobbying to save former Marine Corps 1st Division Commander Lim Seong-geun,' which is subject to investigation under the Comprehensive Special Investigation Act.

According to a comprehensive report by Newspim on the 29th, the Special Investigation Team recently notified Lee that he must appear for questioning at 10 a.m. on the 30th at the Special Investigation office in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province. Lee is expected to attend as a witness in the internal investigation phase, not as a suspect.

Article 2, Paragraph 1, Item 12 of the Comprehensive Special Investigation Act stipulates that suspicions that First Lady Kim Keon-hee intervened in state affairs and personnel appointments by using civilians such as Myung Tae-kyun, Jeon Seong-bae, and Lee Jong-ho as intermediaries to engage in lobbying or illegal requests for Lim Seong-geun, Jo Byeong-no, etc., are subject to investigation.

This investigation appears aimed at verifying whether Lee actually received or conveyed any requests related to saving Lim, and whether he acted as a link to Kim or the presidential office in the process.

Lee is known as the account manager for Kim Keon-hee's alleged stock manipulation case involving Deutsche Motors. When Lim was considering submitting his resignation, a recorded phone call surfaced in which Lee reportedly said, 'I'll talk to the VIP,' raising suspicions of influence-peddling related to saving Lim.

The background to this investigation also includes the first-instance verdict in Lim's perjury case before the National Assembly. On the 11th, the Seoul Central District Court found Lim's testimony that he 'had never met Lee' to be false, convicted him of perjury, and sentenced him to one year and six months in prison.

The Special Investigation Team is expected to question Lee about the circumstances of his meeting with Lim, whether any requests for rescue or exclusion from investigation were made or conveyed, and whether Kim Keon-hee was involved in the process.
