Stripe and Advent Consortium Withdraw Bid for PayPal

A consortium including Stripe and Advent International has reportedly ceased its efforts to acquire PayPal, a deal that would have been one of the largest leveraged buyouts.

A consortium of buyout firm Advent and payment processor Stripe has decided to abandon its pursuit of fintech pioneer PayPal Holdings Inc., a potential deal that would have ranked as one of the biggest-ever leveraged buyouts, according to people familiar with the matter.

The group is no longer pursuing a deal for PayPal, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private. It had previously offered more than $50 billion for the company, people with knowledge of the matter have said.
