Pensioners getting richer: 'Working all the way'
Pensioners' purchasing power is increasing again and nearly half a million Swedes can now call themselves 'jobbonärs', according to a survey from the occupational pension company Alecta. – Compared to ten years ago, a new retiree typically has 8,000 kronor more per month to spend, says the company's pension economist Staffan Ström.
The survey is based on the income year 2024. At that time, 67-year-olds, born in 1957, typically had just under 4,000 kronor more in monthly income compared to new retirees the year before. – We recalculate everything to 2024 monetary value so that it is comparable, says Ström. The year before, 2023, however, purchasing power fell for the then 67-year-olds.
