In Kostopil, a location has been chosen for the installation of the "Tree of Hope." This is a symbol of faith in the return home of Ukrainian prisoners of war and defenders who have gone missing.
The location was chosen based on a public survey. The option in the city center, opposite the Ukrposhta branch, received the most votes.
This particular place was suggested by the families of prisoners of war and missing persons. They explained that the location is accessible and visible to residents of the community. Another 42% of voters supported installing the symbol on Hrushevskyi Square near the memorial stone. 8% supported it near the "Heroes Never Die" memorial.
The city council notes that the community already has memorials and portraits of fallen defenders. However, there was no separate symbol of hope for the return of those their families are waiting for. Until the end of the war, the "Tree of Hope" will be placed near Shevchenko Square. It will be next to the portraits of fallen soldiers.
It is expected that this symbol will become a place of memory, support, and community unity. It will also remind people of the soldiers who are in captivity or considered missing.
