The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has once again expressed his "total and absolute support" for the far-right candidate to lead Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, assuring that the Latin American country will have the strength of Washington if he wins the second round of elections on June 21.
"The results of these elections are very important for the future of Colombia and its relationship with the United States. If Abelardo wins (...) he will have the full support and strength of the United States in his favor," he said on his social media, where he reiterated that it is "an honor" for him to give the candidate nicknamed 'El Tigre' his "total and absolute support."
The White House occupant again described De la Espriella as an "intelligent, strong and tenacious" man and assured that he will have "tremendous success" as president of Colombia by "growing the economy, creating jobs, promoting trade, stopping illegal immigration, taking tough measures against crime and drugs, and restoring law and order."
The president, as he did when he congratulated De la Espriella on his victory in the first round of the presidential elections, warned that he "will face a Marxist of the radical left" in the second round, in reference to the candidate of the Historic Pact, Iván Cepeda.
