"He arrived thinking that Ukraine would lose. But he changed his mind," said the French leader. According to him, "at this G7 summit there really was a shift [in attitude]" (quote from L'Internaute).

The G7 summit was held in France from June 15 to 17 in the city of Évian-les-Bains. The agenda of the meeting of the leaders of the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, and Japan included the situation around Ukraine, diplomatic deals, and security issues.

Earlier, Bloomberg news agency, citing sources, reported that Trump's position on Ukraine had shifted toward supporting Kyiv under the influence of European leaders, including during the summit. It was noted that European politicians began to believe that their views on the Ukrainian conflict had converged with the Republican's position.

The Kremlin also noted the influence exerted on the American president during the G7. "Trump was pumped, I would say, probably with unhelpful, if not harmful, ideas. After that, we have not had any contacts with the Trump administration yet," said Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

Before the G7 summit, Putin and Trump had a telephone conversation. The American president stated his readiness to influence Ukraine and European countries for the sake of a peaceful settlement. Putin, in turn, confirmed that if Vladimir Zelensky wants a meeting, he is welcome in Moscow. After that, Trump called the Ukrainian leader, and the conversation lasted about half an hour. The American president described both conversations as "very good."
