EU High Representative Kallas Welcomes Agreement Reached on Gaza, Thanks Turkey

European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said on the agreement reached on Gaza: "If fully implemented, it would be a constructive step towards peace. I welcome the agreement mediated by the United States with the support of Turkey, Egypt, Qatar and former United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nikolay Mladenov."
EU High Representative Kaja Kallas made a statement about the agreement reached on the complete disarmament of all armed groups in Gaza. In a post on her social media account, Kallas said: "The plan to disarm Hamas in Gaza, if fully implemented, would be a constructive step towards peace. I welcome the agreement mediated by the United States with the support of Turkey, Egypt, Qatar and former United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nikolay Mladenov."
"Many things need to fall into place for this plan to work. Success depends on the full commitment of all parties. Verifying whether Hamas complies with the agreement will be an important challenge. Israel will also ultimately need to withdraw from Gaza," Kallas said.
Stating that the EU is ready to support the next stages of the process, Kallas said: "These steps include the entry of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza and the International Stabilization Force into the region. Our two EU missions on the ground play an important role in supporting the Palestinian state-building efforts."
Noting that the EU is the largest humanitarian donor to Gaza, Kallas said: "In July, the EU pledged €900 million in support for aid projects that will help Gaza recover from the war."
