Back to war? US attacks Iran on second day as well

Tehran: The US has intensified attacks on Iran, blowing away peace agreements. The US military announced that it attacked Iran for the second consecutive day. The US attack on Iran came hours after a tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. This is the biggest conflict since the two countries signed an interim peace agreement two weeks ago. The US carried out attacks on Iran's Sirik, Bandar Lenga, and Qeshm Island. Iranian media said explosions were heard in Sirik in southern Iran. Both countries accused each other of violating the peace agreement.

"We may reach a point where we can no longer be reasonable, and we will be forced to militarily complete the job we started very successfully. If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist!" US President Donald Trump posted on social media on Saturday.

The US Central Command said its forces carried out new attacks after an Iranian drone attacked a Panama-flagged tanker early Saturday.

"The attacks were a direct response to Iran's continued aggression against commercial vessels," they said, targeting Iranian military surveillance, communications, air defense, drone storage, and mine-laying facilities. Iran also made clear it would give a "devastating response" to any enemy attack.

Iran has not directly commented on reports of specific attacks on ships. However, Iranian state television reported that the Revolutionary Guards fired "warning shots" at specific vessels trying to pass through channels not recognized by Iran.

Meanwhile, Israel bombed southern Lebanon, killing at least one person. The attack came a day after signing a framework agreement with the Lebanese government to end hostilities.

On June 23, the United Nations announced two new routes to evacuate ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz through Iranian and Omani waters. But Iran rejected this, saying the plan was announced without consultations. Following this, on the 25th, a Taiwanese ship 'Ever Lovely' was attacked by a suspected Iranian drone off the coast of Oman. On the 26th, the US bombed Iran, accusing it of violating the ceasefire. This was followed by attacks on US military bases in the region. The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported that another tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. Attacks began on US forces in Bahrain and Kuwait.
