Trump: 'Iran will pay many times over'... Central Command: 'Further weakening Iran's military capabilities'
U.S. forces launched additional airstrikes against Iran on the 20th (local time).
The U.S. Central Command, which oversees the Middle East region, announced via its X account that "at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time today, following the order of the Commander-in-Chief (President Donald Trump), new airstrikes were initiated against Iran."
It added, "These strikes are intended to further degrade Iran's military capabilities used to attack merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz."
This marks the tenth consecutive night of U.S. airstrikes against Iran.
President Trump stated on his social media platform Truth Social that "every time Iran kills a U.S. soldier, they will pay the price many times over," expressing a strong will for retaliation over the deaths of U.S. troops.
The ceasefire phase between the U.S. and Iran has been shaken, leading to recent U.S. casualties.
On the 17th, two U.S. soldiers stationed at an air base in Jordan were killed in a missile and drone attack by Iran, and on the 18th, an additional U.S. soldier died in Iraq during the controlled detonation of an unexploded Iranian drone.
