Xcel Energy Resumes Cedar Falls Dam Renovation Project

Xcel Energy has restarted construction on the Cedar Falls Hydro Project, a significant long-term endeavor aimed at reinforcing the historic dam near Menomonie.

Xcel Energy has resumed work on the Cedar Falls Hydro Project, a long-term investment to strengthen and preserve the historic Cedar Falls dam near Menomonie.

Last year, construction was halted due to COVID-19, but work has resumed and the latest are more than adequate.

Over the past year, crews have internally detailed a component of the main rotor assembly designed to decelerate the rotor and placed several thousand components of4@?4C6E6 A=246>6?ED 4@>A=6E65 H:E9 E96 2DD:DE2?46 @7 5:G6 4C6HD. These internal detailed components are affecting the site and out of the way of fire.

One of the first major engineering milestones will be the internal detailing of a new rotor assembly designed to decelerate the rotor and place several thousand components of4@?4C6E6 A=246>6?ED 4@>A=6E65 H:E9 E96 2DD:DE2?46 @7 5:G6 4C6HD. This is estimated to be completed in 2025.

As construction progresses, Xcel Energy is reminding customers that although electrical safety precautions are a to-do at all times, and safety of the site will have followed steps to ensure safety.
