The Municipality of Chania has signed the contract for the energy upgrade of the 9th Primary School of Chania, moving forward with the implementation of a project totaling 830,000 euros, funded by the "CRETE 2021-2027" program.

In his statement, the Mayor of Chania, Panagiotis Simandirakis, pointed out that investment in knowledge starts from the spaces where it is cultivated, emphasizing that this intervention is another substantial step towards creating school infrastructure worthy of the needs of the new generation. "Today, the school units of the Municipality of Chania are in the best condition they have been in for many decades, the result of steady planning and continuous interventions. Every euro directed to education returns multiple benefits to society and creates stronger prospects for the future of Chania," he said.

For his part, the Deputy Mayor of Education and Lifelong Learning, Antonis I. Vardakis, noted that the energy upgrade of the 9th Primary School is added to a series of important projects that have been implemented or are ongoing in the school infrastructure of the Municipality of Chania. He stressed that this project is not an isolated intervention. It is added to the significant interventions already underway at the Amperia school complex, the Koumbes school complex, the Souda Gymnasium, and the building of the 2nd Vocational Lyceum of Chania. Our goal is to create a modern and high-quality network of school infrastructure throughout the Municipality, responding to the needs of the educational community.

The importance of the intervention for the long-term operation of the school was mentioned by the Deputy Mayor of Technical Services, Michalis Kalogridakis. "The 9th Primary School is an important school infrastructure for the area, and this intervention addresses needs that have developed over the years. Our aim is for the school building to fully meet the requirements of a modern educational facility, offering the conditions that students and teachers deserve and ensuring its functionality for years to come," he emphasized.

The Municipality of Chania extends its warm thanks to the Managing Authority of the "CRETE 2021-2027" program, its head Mrs. Maria Kassotaki, and the Regional Governor of Crete, Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis, for their significant contribution and wholehearted support in the execution and completion of the project.
