Why does López Obrador accuse the United States of an attack?
The former federal president stated that various Washington authorities are orchestrating a campaign that uses the fight against migration and narco-terrorism as a political justification. According to the report from the Tabasco politician, these attacks lack a real interest in solving addictions in the neighboring country and seek to influence the November elections.
López Obrador detailed that the strategy aims to undermine the structure of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) to benefit right-wing opposition parties. The former governor described President Sheinbaum's administration as efficient, prudent, and responsible, positioning her as the best leader of the current period due to her actions and works.
"To be clearer: some U.S. officials are plotting to weaken Morena and strengthen the right-wing opposition in Mexico with the idea of again having a government that is entreguista (submissive), corrupt, mafioso, and cruel, and therefore vulnerable, subordinate, and faithful to their interventionist designs."

How does the former president evaluate the previous relationship with Donald Trump?
The document draws a comparison between Donald Trump's current decisions and the agreements reached during the previous six-year term. The former head of the Mexican executive stated that the previous bilateral administration solved complex problems through dialogue and direct negotiation, without resorting to institutional confrontations.
"Speaking of what I know and can prove, the Trump of now is different from the one I dealt with. In my experience, we resolved several issues for the good of our peoples through reasoned dialogue and without confrontation,"
López Obrador said in his statement.
What bilateral agreements does the former president highlight?
The former president listed specific areas where respect for Mexico's sovereignty was maintained and consensus was reached during his administration:
- Trade agreement: Signing of the new trade agreement without including Mexican oil, safeguarding the country's energy sovereignty.
- Cienfuegos case: Return of the file of General Salvador Cienfuegos by the Department of Justice to have the case heard in national territory.
- Mutual security: Formal rejection of the U.S. proposal to classify drug trafficking groups as terrorists, a decision Trump adopted after consulting the Mexican government:
"Moreover, on one occasion he consulted me whether it was convenient to classify drug traffickers as terrorists; I told him that such a terrible mistake should not be made, and the next day he announced that he had taken my opinion into account and would not sign any legal order in that regard. I remember warning him what would happen..."
What does he attribute the change in White House strategy to?
The analysis rules out that the White House stance is due to the end of government terms or changes in the Mexican social environment. López Obrador attributed the decisions to the influence of inexperienced advisers operating in decision-making circles in Washington, whom he called false friends from within and abroad.
"Rather, I attribute Trump's surprising change to his false friends and internal and external advisers who have been embarking him on vile and sinister adventures. Therefore, I do not rule out – and I wish – that President Trump rectifies; I hope he returns to governing as before, with enthusiasm, in a personal way..."
Finally, he warned that classifying organized crime under the concept of narco-terrorism grants a license to capture and execute people extra-territorially without prior trials or sentences.
Furthermore, he labeled several officials of the Trump administration (although without naming names) as "remoras" and "traitors" and wished that
"... he sends to hell the remoras that surround and incite him, whoever they may be, whether they are shills, manipulators, petty bosses, hangers-on, thieves, cops, scribblers, speculators, filibusters, potentates, climbers, or evil ones. For the good of all, may the other Trump return."
The former president concluded with a call for the U.S. president to restore his previous practical criteria and preserve order in regional cooperation schemes.
